Culture of perioperative care before and after the surgery

Perioperative Medicine is an open access journal that publishes highly topical clinical research relating to the perioperative care of surgical patients. Its essence is the distillation, examination and application of clinical evidence to improve surgical outcome. Modern perioperative medicine is a true multidisciplinary speciality and the journal welcomes research in all areas relevant to perioperative medicine from any healthcare professional. Main areas of interest include but are not limited to Perioperative outcomes (surgical, anesthetic, medical), Evidence-based care,  Perioperative guidelines and consensus statements, Preoperative evaluation and risk scores, Preoperative testing, Cardiopulmonary exercise testing, Perioperative decision making, Perioperative haemodynamic, monitoring,  Surgical optimization and enhanced surgical recovery programs, Perioperative fluid management.

The journal is successfully running volume 3 with the large number of visitors worldwide.

The journal aims to promote publications from anesthesia care providers who are otherwise unable to access other journals. Most importantly, those anesthesia care providers from countries or regions that have few resources to provide anesthesia care or approaches to perioperative medicine now have a forum to publish their approaches, research, and dilemmas in patient management.

Preference for publication will be quality research, novel approaches to fundamental problems, and perioperative management of diseases not seen in medically advantageous countries which illustrates an important, practical and generalisable teaching message. We would also like to publish original case reports across all medical disciplines contributing greatly to the advancement of health care. Case reports do not have to be novel or unusual, but need to reflect best practice.
